project | Burgundy archaeological archives - 2012/2014
project owner | Bibracte EPCC
This project involves storing, archiving, processing, and classifying the archeology of Burgundy. It comprises archival spaces and offices. The core principle is to reduce the impact of the building on the site by extending existing fields over the buried parts, which increases the inertia needed for preservation. The skylight necessary for circulations and the office building are the only architectural elements above ground. The balance between excavated earth and backfill evokes archeological excavations, with the difference that here the object comes out of the earth but returns to it. The visible elements are made of weathering steel and glass.
