project | Urban planning Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations - 2005
project owner | French Ministry of culture
The project, envisioned in the context of the Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée (MuCEM, Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations), transformed the surface of the Saint Jean Fort into an open park with complimentary programming (cultural, informative, an observatory). A passageway extends to the rear, meeting the tunnel and allowing for public passage from the port to the height of the fort. Another passageway leads from the fort to the MuCEM, creating a new link to the Euroméditerranée development. The tree species are chosen specifically so to resist high winds, create shelter, and to clearly redefine the visual of the surrounding banks.
